DnM Wedding Films, a Saxon Cole recommended videographer
Over the next few weeks, we're going to list a few of our favourite suppliers that we've worked with in the past because often we get questions from our brides and grooms about which vendors we'd recommend for their day. I thought I'd start our recommendations with DnM Wedding Films this week as one of our preferred vendors.
We've photographed a small handful of weddings with DnM Wedding Films and we can definitely recommend the quality of their work as well as their professionalism. If you were looking to book Saxon Cole or are booked with Saxon Cole and are in need of a great videography team, we can highly recommend DnM as a company that works seamlessly with our style of photography. DnM have also been winners/finalists in the ABIA for the video production award three years in a row. Dave's team recently captured the day of one of Saxon Cole's lead photographers Nicole, so if that doesn't tell you how much we like their work then I don't know what will. I spoke to Dave Cowling, the man behind DnM video and asked him a few questions about his business and his passion for capturing a bride's special day.
Thanks for your time Dave, tell me, what got you started in capturing video for weddings, and how long have DnM been around for?
It was September 2004 that I filmed my first wedding for a friend - and soon after, DnM Wedding Films was born. I'd always had an interest in capturing moments with both photos and video, but it was in finding an ability to tell a compelling story through video and in seeing people's reactions to those stories that I found my passion.
I noticed and appreciated that when we worked together for Nicole's wedding, your team was fairly unobtrusive, is this typical of what clients would expect when they book DnM?
Absolutely. Our approach to the day is to candidly capture events as they naturally unfold without imposing on the day itself. We also make a strong point of working with the wedding photographers to make sure that we all get the shots we need.

What gets your team excited when you're capturing a bride's wedding day?
In creating a wedding film, our aim is to make a film that not only captures the events of the day. Many wedding videos are just that ... a record of what happened. But what makes a great wedding film is capturing who the people are at that time in their lives. That takes a much keener eye and greater story-telling skills. What I love most when filming is when I see the story unfolding. Every story and each couple are different - and I love finding the couple's characters and looking for a creative way to tell their story. Weddings have such a great energy and we love capturing that.
Thanks again for taking the time to chat Dave, we look forward to working with you soon.
Thanks for the opportunity Wil. I'm looking forward to teaming up again soon!
And finally do you have any tips for our brides that are looking for videographer?
My advice is don't skimp on your wedding photos and video as those are all that last beyond the day
